When a tooth has a large cavity or has been treated by a root canal, the structural integrity of that tooth is compromised. A Porcelain Crown may be necessary to save that tooth with the least amount of problems long-term. When discussing the type of crowns available to be placed, there are options to be considered.
All-Porcelain Crown: These crowns are the best esthetic option. A white zirconium substructure supports the porcelain, and helps to prevent porcelain fracture. All porcelain crowns are manufactured using a high-tech optical scanner and converted to an electronic file and transmitted to a manufacturing facility. Once the substructure is milled, it is returned to our laboratory technician who then adds the esthetic porcelain. The only caveat for these restorations is the marginal gap which is much larger than their gold or ceramometal counterpart.
